Foundation Program, NDRI – 2018 for Fresher Students


A Foundation Program for Fresh Students was conducted during 8th October – 3rd November, 2018 to nurture their soft skills for their inclusive growth and impart holistic educational programmes to make them agents of transformation of the Dairy Industry and Society. It comprised various sessions of different extra-curricular activities such as soft-skill development, yoga, music, theatre, art & craft, gender equity, social awareness, disaster management and literary activities. Foundation program-2018 was conducted as a part of IDP (NAHEP) Project of NDRI to invoke and nurture the hidden talents of the students. Experts from outside NDRI were invited to nurture students in the fields of music, singing, art & craft, dance, theatre, soft skills and entrepreneurial skills and yoga. Fresher students were admitted to respective clubs meant for above activities.

The Foundation program included a grand reception on 3rd Nov 2018 (Fresher’s day) for new students of the new academic year (2018-19). The ICAR Director General Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education & Director General, ICAR was the chief guest and Dr. J.K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Animal Science and Fisheries), ICAR was the special guest. Also, the program was attended by Directors of sister ICAR Institutes in Karnal and faculty and students of NDRI. Cultural programmes viz. classical dance, Haryanvi folk dance, Bollywood dance, short drama and music were presented by fresher on this occasion. Also, painting, sketch making, photography, videography and attractive rangoli created by fresher students were showcased. Nearly 300 fresher students were admitted to NDRI during academic year 2018-19 in different degree programs i.e. B.Tech (Dairy Technology), Masters and PhD. Dr. Mohapatra motivated the students and advised them to be ready for facing challenges in life, learn to accept those challenges for achieving success. He appreciated the great presentations by students and wished them a bright future. Dr. R.R.B. Singh, Director, NDRI welcomed the NDRI family of students and apprised them about NDRI’s activities. Dr. S.K. Tomar, Academic Coordinator, NDRI introduced the academic activities of the Institute.
