Deputation of B.Tech(Dairy Technology) Students of NDRI for Overseas Internship under IDP-NAHEP for the FY 2018-19
Overseas Internship of B.Tech (Dairy Technology) students envisaged under the IDP (NAHEP) Project NDRI, Karnal was formalized with nine distinguished global universities in Europe, USA and New Zealand.
The B.Tech (Dairy Technology) students of NDRI were selected for overseas internship based on the score card comprising five parameters viz., (1) academic performance (50%) (2) taxonomical evaluation of cognition levels of learning in dairy processing (20%), (3) character, conduct, personality, team spirit and sports activities (10%), (4) extra- and co-curricular activities (10%), and (5) personal interview (10%). Candidates having a CGPA of 7.5 and above and not having any repeat course on the day of taxonomical examination were invited and considered for selection. Out of the total 47 students appeared, 34 have been identified. The selectees proceeded for the overseas internship across nine distinguished global universities viz. University of Georgia, USA; Southern Illinois University, USA; Kansas State University, USA; Purdue University, USA; Technical University of Denmark; University of Copenhagen, Denmark; University College Cork, Ireland; Teagasc Food Research Centre, Cork, Ireland and Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand. The internship has been scheduled during Jan-Mar, 2019 for a period of six weeks. Budget provision for travel, lodging and boarding and visa fee are provided to students under the NAHEP. The students will be working on various projects at the respective universities under different mentors. NDRI faculty identified for coordinating the activities, helped in the travel and visa arrangements. They will also monitor the progress of these students undergoing internship at different places for the successful completion of the assignment.
