Pre Event Description :
The College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) organized an expert lecture on “Scientific Temper – A way of Life” on 6th October 2021 from 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm in the seminar hall of the College. A total of 75 students of the college participated. The program was supported by the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research – National Agricultural Higher Education Project (ICAR-NAHEP) which was dedicated to ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence. The invited speaker, Dr Swarndeep Sigh Hundal, former Professor and Head, Department of Zoology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana delivered an enthralling talk on linking science in every activity, weird superstitions, accuracy and precision, qualities of a teacher and parenting for a better future. Further, emphasized about best qualities one should instill to succeed in research with several quotes, and during his presentation, he depicted the achievements of renowned scientists, successful CEOs, sportsmen of India and the world as exemplaries. The principal scientist of the College and the nodal officer for IDP cell from CoF, Dr Vaneet Inder Kaur was instrumental in motivating the students to utilize the opportunities of such programs by interacting with the eminent speaker(s). The session was successfully organized and concluded by Dr Harpreet Singh, Public Relations Officer, GADVASU by highlighting the importance of science in routine activities with several quotes, and suggested students to develop passion towards science.
