Objective: ONLINE INTERNATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMME,CLIMATE RISK ASSESSMENT AND ITS MANAGEMENT THROUGH AGROMETEOROLOGICAL APPROACHES
Pre Event Description :
The amount of damage wrought by weather-related risks has skyrocketed in recent decades. Increasing temperatures and episodes of extreme weather events have serious societal, agricultural, economic, and ecological impacts across the globe, with heat being the leading weather-related killers. As per recent IPCC report, warm days/nights, their frequency and duration has increased since 1950s and it is projected that there will be more frequent weather-related risks over most of land areas of Asia. Climate risk management is a process for incorporating knowledge and information about climate-related events, trends, forecasts and projections into decision making to increase or maintain benets and reduce potential harm or losses. It is a multi disciplinary activity that calls for an integrated consideration of socioeconomic and environmental issues. This training course seeks to provide information in order to understand the range of issues involved in climate risks and adaptation by using an advanced agro-meteorological approach and make informative decisions about how one may make progress with adaptation planning in agriculture. It is hoped that pro-active participation will play innovative and decisive role in shaping the future research aiming to look on climate risk issues for farmers' welfare and environmental security. We consider it our privilege to extend you a warm invitation for your active participation in this training programme to accomplish its objectives.
